Architectural Program Proposal

We were expected to choose at least 3 cases with respect to the concepts that we’ve developed in mapping the context assignment. We were expected to analyze each case considering the program distribution, program elements, their size and percentage, their spatial relations and so on. Then, we were asked to produce at least two architectural program proposals by hybridizing the cases that we have analyzed and associate the programs with the concepts that we’ve developed.

We analyzed as many cases as we can to understand especially Ford Building. We mainly focused on 3 contexts as sea, industry and life in the site and find/analyze the cases in accordance with these contexts.

Here you can find our program proposal for two scenarios that we’ve developed. In the first scenario, we assume that Ford plant expands through the site and the second scenario is foresight to the next 20 years of Ford Plant’s contraction due to technological development.

ARCH 301 Co.cius Final Jury

Finally we had our 3rd year first semester final jury. I can explain our project briefly.

After the site analysis we made and demographic information that we searched throughout the semester we defined a problem. The profile of Cebeci region changed over time and  the lack of an urban space that function as social space has increased this difference. So, to solve this problem firstly we prepared a program and tried to find a design strategy that could solve our problem and that would serve to enrich the neighbourhood life for everyone and not only students, 24/7 and not only school hours.

We wanted to design a hybrid complex that includes a high-school, a dormitory, staff&guest house, a preschool, library, swimming pool and a performance center. (https://ekinbaskentli.wordpress.com/2019/01/05/co-cius-studio-site-plan/) Throughout the semester we studied these function and their relations. The topography of our site was very challenging, throughout the design process this steep slope was forced us and it was really hard to turn this in our advantage. Another design strategy that we studied is to create voids between the function. We created voids for lighting, for air, and for creating outdoor hybrid spaces.
